Custom Lanai Addition in Rancho Santa Fe

In the heart of the recent housing market crash, a newly married couple wanted to build their dream house. They just had one problem—they needed to sell their current house first. In a saturated buyer’s market, they knew they had to do something to make their home in Rancho Santa Fe stand out. They came to us with the idea of adding an audacious lanai, or veranda to enhance the home’s outdoor living space.

As with most high-end communities, the client’s home was under the jurisdiction of a stringent association that had to sign off on all major remodels. These associations befuddle a lot of construction and remodeling companies that don’t know how to present all the plans and paperwork. But that’s not the case with MMD Construction. We took our time to draw up the plans, submit them, and get the association’s seal of approval.

Our team worked diligently for two months to add a spacious and beautiful veranda onto the client’s home. We made a special effort to match the veranda’s roof to the roof of the house to create a seamless look between new and old. As you can see from the pictures, the result speaks for itself. The home now has a whole new outdoor space, including an outdoor living room that lets the homeowners take advantage of San Diego’s year-round beautiful weather. The lanai is the perfect place to read a book in the afternoon, watch the sun set over dinner, or chat with friends over a glass of wine on a warm summer night.

The house sold quickly even in one of the worst housing markets in recent memory. The clients were so impressed with the result and with our strong communication that they asked us to build their new dream home.
